In Holcim France-Benelux, clinker production at the Dannes factory near Boulogne will be halted for a month from mid February for the installation a new kiln grid. This represents a cost of €1m out of the €2.5m being spent at Dannes this year.

In India, ACC's cement shipments in 2010 declined by 0.9% to 21.17Mt, but did improve by 2.1% in the month of December. The cement production was off by 0.8% in the year, while it increased by 2.7% in December.  Sister company Ambuja Cements, performed rather better, raising sales volumes by 6.9% to 20.12Mt and production by 6.8%, also to 20.12Mt in respect of last year. In the final month, production improved by 3.0% and despatches by 5.6%.

Holcim Philippines re-commissioned its Calaca, Batangas terminal – mothballed since 1999 – having spent US$1.4m on its renovation in anticipation of increased local demand, both in the private and public sectors.
