The Votorantim group's turnover declined by some 18 per cent last year to R$28,600m (€11,731m), of which the cement division accounted for 26 per cent, or around €3.05m. Exports accounted for just 1 per cent of the cement division's turnover. The group EBITDA was down by close to a quarter to R$5,500m (€2256m). The outlook for the cement activities in Brazil is positive for 2010 on the back of government spending on low cost housing and on the infrastructure, to which could be added the forthcoming soccer championships and the 2012 Olympic Games.
