Tight market competition, the entry of a number of new players and continuing oversupply of cement has made the first half of 2016 particularly challenging for PT Indocement. Compared to the same period last year, the company saw its domestic sales volumes fall by 3.7 per cent to 7.9Mt. Its market share also slid, down from 28.3 per cent in 1H15 to 26.6 per cent. Cement consumption in its home market of Java dropped by 17.4 per cent, while West Java recorded consumption growth of just one per cent.
