Semen Indonesia - October 2017


Semen Indonesia has been forced to suspend construction of its new plant in Aceh, Indonesia. Located in the Pidie Jaya regency, the works is due to commence operations in 2020 but has been plagued with land disputes. While local communities are supportive of the new plant, they want a disagreement over land issues to be resolved before construction resumes. They are also requesting that environmental impact requirements linked to the plant are met.
