PT Indocement - May 2018

In the opening quarter of 2018, PT Indocement’s net revenue advanced by 1.9 per cent to IDR3439bn (US$244m), compared to the same period a year earlier. However, gross profit fell by 15.2 per cent YoY from IDR1163bn to IDR986bn. As a result, basic earnings per share contracted from IDR133.53 in 1Q17 to IDR71.79 in the same quarter this year.

According to the Indonesian Cement Association, cement sales in the country grew by 6.6 per cent YoY to 15.7Mt in the first quarter of this year. March put in an unexpected 3.4 per cent jump to 5.21Mt, despite predictions of flat consumption that month. The first quarter also saw Indonesian cement and clinker exports advance by nearly 80 per cent YoY to 0.7Mt.
