Anhui Conch - June 2018

Last month Anhui Conch was forced to suspend production on three lines at its Tongling Conch plant in Anhui province. The suspension was due to the temporary closure of a pier used by the plant to export cement and clinker products and imports raw materials such as coal. The pier, which is located close to the Tongling Water Treatment Plant, was closed in accordance with new government regulations on drinking water supply and pollution.

According to Anhui Conch the pier has held all the necessary licences and environmental approvals since 1987. The temporary suspension is expected to reduce the plant’s clinker output from 15Mta to just under 9Mta. The company is sourcing clinker from other plants to supported its effected grinding works. In mid-June, news reports stated that the Tongling municipal government hoped to restore operations at the pier as soon as possible.
