LafargeHolcim’s current president, Wolfgang Reitzle, could be returning to Germany-based gas producer Linde to become head of the Supervisory Board after the mandatory two-year waiting period which ends on 20 May 2016, according to the Süddeutsche Zeitung. Cemex announces retirement of Vice President of Energy

Cemex has announced that its current Vice President of Energy, Luis R Faris Martinez will retire from office. He will leave the company with effect from 1 February 2016, said the cement company in a filing to the Mexican Stock Exchange. The company did not disclose the reasons for the separation nor who will take Mr Faris Martinez’s place.

Cemex has appointed Jaime Chapa to head the group’s operations across the whole of Europe. Until now he was in charge of South and Central America, a position that is now being taken by Jaime Dominguez, previously in charge of the Mediterranean area.  Ignacio Fernandez is moving from Europe to run the US operations.  Joaquin Suarez is adding the Middle East and Africa to his existing responsibility of Asia.

UltraTech Cement appoints K K Maheshwari as Managing Director and Additional Director for a period of four with effect from 1 April 2016.  Mr Maheshwari is a chartered accountant with over 38 years of experience. He will succeed O P Puranmalka who will step down as MD on 31 March 2016.

Lafarge Africa has now completed the acquisition of the outstanding 30 per cent of United Cement Company of Nigeria from Flour Mills of Nigeria to make it a wholly-owned subsidiary. Cementos Portland Valderrivas (CPV), part of Spain’s FCC, has appointed Carlos Manuel Jarque, current CEO of FCC, and Juan Rodriguez Torres, FCC adviser and newly-appointed non-executive chairman of the Realia real estate co, as directors of CPV.
