Senegal cement sales up 0.7% in 5M15

Demand for cement in Senegal edged up 0.7 per cent YoY to 1,432,100t in January-May 2015, according to national Planning and Economic Study Directorate. Production in the first five months of 2015 increased 9.6 per cent to 2,444,100t when compared with 2,230,800t noted in 5M14. Output was buoyed by a 26 per cent YoY rise in exports, which surpassed the 1Mt mark at 1,050,400t during the five-month period.

Caribbean Cement Co Ltd (CCCL) reported a consolidated profit of JMD869.3m (US$7.42m) for the first six months of 2015, compared to a loss of JMD53.2m in the corresponding period of 2014 – an improvement of JMD922m. Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation (Vicem), the country’s leading state-owned cement producer, said its cement and clinker sales slipped 0.5 per cent to 10.73Mt in the first half of 2015. Egypt: Suez Cement 2Q net profit drops 57%

Suez Cement posted a second-quarter net profit of EGP60.9m (US$7.8m) on Tuesday, down 57.2 per cent from the EGP142.5m recorded a year earlier. Revenue over the three month period declined by 15 per cent due to lower prices and exports. Suez Cement said it was diversifying its energy sources to mitigate the impact of shortages which "affected negatively the company's profits".

Pakistan cement sales increased by 3.5 per cent in FY14-15 as strong domestic construction and housing activity boosted dispatches, according to Topline Securities.
