Senegal: domestic market contracts, exports jump

Senegalese cement producers increased their output by 4.4 per cent in the first four months of 2015 when compared with the same period of 2014, according to the country’s planning and economic study department. Production went up from 1,752,000t to 1,829,400t. Domestic sales fell 6.4 per cent from 1,123,000t in 4M14 to 1,051,500t in January-April 2014. However, exports jumped 22.1 per cent from 656,500t to 801,500t in the same period.

Caribbean Cement Company Ltd (CCCL) has secured a deal to supply cement for use in stabilisation of a 46km stretch of the north-south leg of Highway 2000, which is currently under construction. Dalmia Cement is increasing its exports to Sri Lanka through channel partner Smart Dragon Lanka Pvt Ltd, the company said in a statement. Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd currently supplies cement to the Sri Lankan market from their plant located in Dalmiapuram, Trichy District (Tamil Nadu). Indonesian monthly consumption declines by 7.9%

Indonesian consumption remained weak in May, declining by nearly eight per cent, latest data from the Indonesia Cement Association shows. Cement demand fell by 7.9 per cent in May 2015 to 4.78Mt. Consumption during the month was down in all areas, with Kalimantan seeing the largest regional drop (-24.3 per cent) followed by Maluk & Irian Jaya (-16.2 per cent) and Sulawesi. Vietnam's Ministry of Construction expects a four per cent YoY rise in cement and clinker sales in 2015 to 74Mt, comprising 53Mt of domestic sales and exports of 20Mt. La Hien Cement JSC, a subsidiary of the Vietnam National Coal Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin),  is seeking new export markets in Asia and Africa, an executive of the company said. Argentinian cement deliveries up 8.3% YoY in May

In May 2015 Argentina’s cement plants shipped 1,001,540t of cement (including exports), representing a five per cent drop compared to last April, but up 7.8 per cent YoY, according to the Argentinian cement producers' association, AFCP. The domestic market expanded by 8.3 per cent YoY as 996,149t were delivered within the country’s borders. When compared with the previous month, a 4.7 per cent fall was noted.

A total of 29Mt of cement was dispatched during the first 10 months (July 2014 - April 2015) of the current Pakistan versus 28Mta in the same period of last year due to a rise in domestic demand, the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) said.
