Japanese cement producers have increased export levels in a bid to help offset a slowdown in domestic consumption due to a slump in housing investment. Argentina: January domestic sales up 2% YoY

The Argentine cement market expanded by four per cent MoM and 1.9  per cent YoY as domestic sales reached 927,510t in January 2015, according to the latest figures released by AFCP, the country’s cement association. Imports increased from 163t to 227t. However, exports in January fell by 21.9 per cent when compared with January 2014 to 16,705t and by 27 per cent in comparison with December 2014.

Belarus to export 1.8Mt in 2015

Belarusian manufacturers are expected to export 1.8Mt of cement in 2015, including 1.3Mt to be supplied to Russia's Eurocement, Construction Minister, Anatol Chorny, told reporters in Minsk on Thursday. Pakistan cement dispatches over the first seven months of the current fiscal increased by 6.18 per cent to 20.22Mt compared with 18.86Mt in the same period of the previous year, boosted by local sales. Vietnam’s cement consumption increased six per cent MoM and 47 per cent YoY to 4.37Mt in January 2015, according to the Department of Building Materials at the country’s Ministry of Construction. Iranian exports exceed 14.5Mt in first nine months

Iran’s cement and clinker exports have surpassed 14.5Mt in the first nine months of the Iranian calendar year (starting 21 March 2014). Of the total, 68.7 per cent were cement and the remainder clinker, news agency IRNA reported citing Iran’s Ministry of Industries and Mines. Among the country’s export destinations are Iraq, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Pakistan, Qatar, Turkey, the UAE, Georgia, Oman, India, and China.

Bangladesh, Indonesia and Malaysia remain Vietnamese top importers

Bangladesh, Indonesia and Malaysia were the top importers of Vietnamese clinker and cement exports last year, the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade said on its website. Bangladesh took the lead after importing 8.39Mt of cement worth US$323m from Vietnam last year, while Indonesia came second with 2.65Mt worth US$123m and Malaysia ranked third with 1.28Mt worth US$62m. Vietnam targets increased exports in 2015

Vietnam is forecast to export 25-26Mt of cement and clinker in 2015, the Dau Tu (Investment) newspaper reported, citing the country’s Ministry of Construction. The main end-markets include Bangladesh, Middle East countries and Cambodia, according to the report. Last year, exports jumped 30 per cent from 2013 to nearly 20Mt, the report added.
