Pakistan export earnings fall

Pakistan exports have had a disappointing start to the current fiscal, falling 1.98 and 3.46 per cent in terms of quantity and dollar value, respectively on a MoM basis. During July 2013, Pakistan exported 854,477t of cement and earned US US$51.49m compared to 871,764t at US$53.33m in corresponding month last year, according to data from the country’s Bureau of Statistics. Pakistan cement dispatches fell seven per cent YoY in August due to the Eid holidays and wet weather conditions. Sales were down to 2.15Mt in August 2013 compared to 2.6Mt in the same month of the previous year.  Meanwhile, on a sequential basis, August sales fell by 17 per cent compared to July 2013 dispatches of 2.6Mt. Azerbaijan increases imports from Georgia

In the 1H13 249,770t of cement valued at US$18.45m was exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan, according to Georgia's national statistics service, GruzStat. The share of this category in the total volume of Georgian exports to Azerbaijan in the 1H13 constituted 5.54 per cent. In comparison with the same period, the export of cement from Georgia increased by 28.48 per cent or by 53,700t.

Russian cement production in June reaches 7.1Mt

Substantial rises in Russian cement production and consumption have been achieved in 1H13. SMPro analysts state that Russian cement producers achieved an output of 7.1Mt of cement in June, the highest monthly production in 2013. Meanwhile, cement consumption rose by 4.8 per cent compared to June 2012 and by 14.6 per cent with May to 7.5Mt. Peru: cement shipments rise

Peru's ASOCEM cement association reports that in July its members delivered 88,277t of cement in the domestic market. The January to July shipments are up YoY for the same period by 11 per cent rise, while a total of 16,349t of cement were also exported during July 2013.

Zambezi Portland Cement Limited (ZPC) has reduced its export sales by 50 per cent, effective from 1 August  2013, to cater for the increased demand of the product on the local market. The Brazilian market is offering Spain’s Cementos Cosmos the opportunity to maintain its clinker production at a high level. Cement exports from Indonesia increased in July as domestic demand slows and new capacity comes on-stream. India-based Star Cement said it has dispatched its first barge of clinker to Bangladesh via river.
