Cement sales in Saudi Arabia edged up one per cent to 4.215Mt in February 2023 from 4.155Mt in February 2022, according to Yamama Cement . Algeria-based ECDE , part of the GICA group, has exported since the start of the year close to 350,000t of clinker from Algeria, according to ECDE CEO, Kada Dinar. Brazil’s cement association, SNIC, reported that cement sales in the domestic market declined by 7.2 per cent YoY to 4.42Mt in February 2023 from 4.763Mt. Italian cement production fell by 29 per cent MoM and nine per cent YoY in December 2022, according to the country’s construction chamber, Federbeton. When compared with the 2015 base index production the value declined from 85 in November to 70 in December. In the 7MFY22-23 Nepal exported cement and clinker worth NPR167.03m (US$1.273m), reports Khabarhub. According to Nepal’s Department of Customs, over the seven-month period, 153,493t of cement were exported, with a value of NPR60.66m. Bangladesh has reported 49.7 per cent YoY growth in cement export revenue to US$8.13m in the 8MFY22-23 (July 2022-February 2023). This compares to US$5.43m in the same period a year earlier. According to the Bangladesh Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), this figure also includes minor amounts of salt, stone and related products. The cement market in Argentina contracted by 4.5 per cent YoY and 6.5 per cent MoM to 895,938t in February 2023, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. In February 2022 demand reached 938,072t while in January 2023 it stood at 958,230t.
