Taiwan plans to lower cement cap on exports

Asia Cement to restrict Sincheng mining activities

Asia Cement is to reduced its mining operations in Hualien County, Taiwan, by 40 per cent amid widespread criticism at the company’s mining activities at the Sincheng site. Asia Cement Corp has denied that it has been expanding mining operations in Hualien County, Taiwan,  following accusations by a filmmaker that mining has intensified at the site, the Tapei Times reports. Vietnam April exports up 6.7%

Vietnam exported more than 1.9Mt of cement and clinker, reflecting an export value of US$67.4m, according to the country’s Customs Department. Taiwan Cement Corp, the country’s largest cement maker, yesterday announced a proposal to privatise its TCC International Holdings Ltd (TCCI) subsidiary and delist from the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. TCCI has cement operations in several southern Chinese provinces. Vietnam 1Q exports rise 11% YoY

Vietnam exported 4.82Mt of cement and clinker worth US$168.65m in the first quarter of this year, representing 11 per cent increase YoY in volume and 6.4 per cent in value, according to the latest data of the General Department of Vietnam Customs. Taiwan: Chia Hsin Cement sees 11% revenue rise, pretax profit drop

Chia Hsin Cement Corp of Taiwan reported an 11 per cent rise in revenues to TWD3.14bn (US$103.3m) in 2016 when compared with TWD2.83bn in 2015. However, pretax profits dipped 59.4 per cent from TWD194.9m in 2015 to TWD79.2m the following year. Net profits reached TWD24.89m.

Taiwan: Hsing Ta Cement sees February revenues up 27%

Taiwan’s Hsing Ta Cement posted revenues of TWD174.57m (US$6.62m) in February, up 27.3 per cent from TWD137.18m YoY. The company reported revenues of TWD507.63m in Jan-Feb 2017, which represent an 6.6 per cent increase when compared with 2M16, when revenues reached TWD475.93m.

The Taiwan Cement Corporation has said that it expects to ship 1.1Mt of cement to China in the first quarter of 2017, an increase of two per cent on its performance in 1Q16, the Taipei Times reports. In September Vietnam’s clinker and cement exports fell 0.3 per cent to 1.15Mt when compared with August but climbed 3.5 per cent to US$48.16m, according the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade.
