A key player in cement manufacturing since 1939, Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd (DCBL) is not only in the top quartile in terms of market share in India, but also a pioneer in super-specialty cements used for oil wells, railway sleepers and air strips. After the recent set of acquisitions, the company is now looking for organic growth and implementing a number of new capacity projects, including a 4500tpd greenfield integrated works in Belgaum, in the southwest Indian state of Karnataka. Currently, DCBL has a capacity of 9Mta in five plants: Dalmiapuram and Ariyalur in Tamil Nadu, Kadappa in Andhra Pradesh and Umrangshu and Lanka in Assam. The company also has a 45.4 per cent stake in OCL India Ltd and after its acquisition of Adhunik Cement and Calcom Cement in northeastern India, now has some 21.8Mta of capacity in its reach.
