kiln ring formation

We are operating a 940 TPD wet process rotary kiln using industrial waste materials such as calcium carbide sludge and limestone. Our plant is located in  India. We are using high chloride and high sulfur sludge resulting in kiln backend draft increase and kiln ring formation in the pre burning zone of the kiln. However, performance of kiln ESP is satisfactory and meeting our pollution norms. We are interested to know from you whether there is any solution to prevent/remove the kiln rings and reduce kiln draft.

Re: kiln ring formation

Formation of rings is a common problem with high chloride and sulphur inputs to cement kilns. One strategy to remove them can be to adjust the burner settings. Otherwise the kiln has to be stopped. It may then be possible to remove the ring by shooting with an industrial gun. Alternatively I have seen kilns with tubes for Cardox charges attached to the shell to address ring formations.

Re: kiln ring formation

Both the refractory bricks and the rings have a tendency to move inside the kiln shell. How will the Cardox tubes contirbute in such cases?
