clinker prodcution

As all knows that steelmaking slag is used in cement kiln (cemstar technology). Slag has C2S so that is used in clinker production that improve clinker C3S and help to catalyze clinker formation reaction. In this case, clinker dust in produced clinker has more C2S. If we can seperate it from clinker; how does it affect the clinker formation reaction by adding it at kiln inlet? I mean closed circuit kiln system like closed circuit mill system with seperator.
I interest comments of cement people about that.

Re: clinker prodcution

I don’t fully understand the question. However, with the addition of slag to the kiln inlet the chemistry of the fresh feed has to be adjusted so that the clinker which is produced has the required C3S content. In practice this means that the lime saturation has to be raised to compensate for the low lime saturation of then slag.

Re: clinker prodcution

Normally salg is added in the kiln feed, as a corrective material for silica, when no other silicious mateiral with the required burnability is not available. This slag will be consumed in clinker burning reactions and gets converted into the calcium silicates and other minorological components of clinker.

How ever, the slag added to the cement grinding will be engaing the calcium hydraxide that is formed during the hydaration of cement, and will form secondary CSH gel and improves the durability of concrete and assisting in the later strength of concrete.
