Dear Tukta,

The problem most likely arises from the increased sulphur content of the pet coke. You must take steps to make sure that a heavy sulphur cycle does not build up in the kiln. Have you changed or adjusted the kiln burner since converting to pet coke firing?

Re: Cement mill performance drop when use clinker with petcoke firing

Dear Dr Michael Clark

When we converted to petcoke firing we have increased primary air to counteract low volatile content of them afterthat we found the litre weight of clinker was lower and free lime tend to be almost upper control limit at 1.6% and we clear riser pipe more often about 4 times/shift. the SO3 content in clinker about 1.6%, we operate with rotaflam burner. the clinker size get smaller and hard to grind wich observed by cement mill performance drop drastically.Would you please suggest me to combat these problems?

 Thank you & Regards

By how much did you increase primary air? Did you install a higher capacity blower?
