Replacing ESP with Bag filter

The main ESP in our new line (5000 tpd) is running with very low efficiency especially when the raw mill be stopped. The supplier tried to modify it but he failed (Plant stopped  21 days); now they want to replace it with bag filter. We don't have any experience in bag houses in kiln area in our 5 kilns and we don't know if replacing the ESP with Bag house is good idea or not and till now we don't decide beacuse we heard that the maintenance cost of the bag filter is more than ESP and the high temperature may destroy the bags. We need your help and suggestions in this subject!

Thanks

Re: Replacing ESP with Bag filter

It is becoming common practice to replace ESPs with baghouses for the main kiln exhaust. The dust emissions should certainly be lower. But, as you say, the maintenance costs are higher and the operational constraints are tighter. What reasons are given for the non-performance of the ESP?

Re: Replacing ESP with Bag filter

I agree with Mr Clark that the move away from ESP to bag filter is common and in fact a best practice. Your fears regarding high temperature should not be a problem provided that the correct media (material) is chosen to handle peak temps and that the controls to damper the gas inlet in an upset condition are operational. The cost of maintenance is no more that an ESP and with the low air-to-cloth ratios being used these days bag life is being greatly extended. There are only a handful of bag filter OEM's I would recommend that have experience in raw mill installs.

Re: Replacing ESP with Bag filter

Dear Sir,

If you are interested in implementing baghouse instead of ESP, involving some more maintenance issues but the present collection efficiency can be enhanced. Also you need to mention the PH gas uoutlet temp which will assist me to suggest further.

We FLSmidth AirTech succeeded in dust filteration especially in cement plants. You can send formal enquiry to us so that  we will offer you the best.
