re Effect of Immersion / dip tube in lower stage of PH cyclone

Dear all,

I want to ask a question and comment on dust recirculation.

Efficieny of the lower stage cyclones are around 70-75% with dip tubes. If we remove the dip tubes this efficiency will go down. I don't really know how much!

However, if the dip tube is removed than total dust coming to 1st cyclone will be higher. According to my calculation, if you remove the lowest two cyclones' dip tubes, and say the new efficiency 40%, than you will increase dust return from 6% to 9%. Important note: if you remove only lowest cyclone dip tube, it doesn't have too much effect.

I agree with the higher heat consumption because you will have higher temperature of all cyclones, The pressure drop will increase because of higher velocities in ducts and cyclones, it will decrease because of lack of dip tube. Overall pressure drop should be modelled.

Best Regards,
