Vicem sales rise to 16.8Mt in Jan-Nov 2011

The state-run Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation (Vicem) sold 16.8Mt of cement and clinker in the first 11 months of this year, up 4% from a year earlier.

The figures represented 81% of the corporation’s whole-year target, the firm said on its website on 13 December.

Of the sum, the 15.7Mt of cement were sold in the domestic market while 1.09Mt were exported.

In November, the corporation’s cement and clinker sales down 12.8% from the same months of last year to 1.5Mt.

Vicem generated 14.6Mt of cement down 7.9% YoY during the 11 months while its clinker production rose 15.7% to 13.2Mt.

As end of November, Vicem’s production stockpile amounted to 1.98Mt, including 1.6Mt of clinker.

In December, Vicem targets to produce 1.27Mt of clinker and 1.67Mt of cement. The corporation also plans 2.2Mt of cement sales.

Vicem posted a loss of VND220bn (US$10.63m) in the first nine months of this year though its cement sales rose 6% from a year earlier to 13.7Mt.
