Himachal Pradesh government has asked the cement companies located in the state to take immediate measures to reduce prices, state Industries minister, Kishan Kapoor, said.

Addressing a meeting of senior officers and representatives of cement factories here he said that the government had asked these companies to do the needful by November 21 and intimate the “action taken” to the government.

He said that the land of the State had been given by the people to cement companies to set up cement plants and various incentives were being provided to cement factories by the Government but in spite of this, the prices of cement were higher in the state in comparison to neighbouring states.

He added that cement factories established in the State should ensure that cement was available on reasonable rates to people of the State.
