Saudi Arabia plans to offer seven licenses for cement plants before the end of the year, Jeddah-based newspaper, Okaz, reported citing Deputy Minister for Mineral Resources Sultan Shawli.

A license-holder can own 50 per cent of the cement plant while the balance must be sold in an initial public offering, the newspaper said, citing Shawli.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has selected 16 limestone sites across the kingdom, the report noted, citing the official.
