Brazilian talk of Cimpor takeover denied

AE Brazil Newswire and Reuters reports that Camargo Corrêa denies talks to buy the rest of Cimpor.

"There isn’t any change in the position of this company regarding Cimpor," Camargo Corrêa said in a statement.

Meanwhile,
a spokeswoman at Portugal’s CMVM market regulator said on Thursday, Portuguese cement maker Cimpor is unaware of any contacts between its Brazilian shareholders Camargo Corrêa and Votorantim to launch a takeover bid for Cimpor.

"CMVM contacted Cimpor’s board which said it has no knowledge of any contacts between shareholders Camargo Corrêa and Votorantim to launch a takeover bid," the CMVM spokeswoman said.

Camargo Corrêa and Votorantim currently hold a combined 54.1% of Cimpor. Published under Cement News
