US July shipments see marginal rise
Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the United States and Puerto Rico for July 2011 were 6.8Mt. This was only slightly higher than shipments in July 2010.
Shipments for the year through July were 38.8 Mt, essentially unchanged from the same period in 2010. The leading producing States in July were Texas, California, Missouri, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, in descending order, and accounted for about 41% of the total production. The leading consuming States (Texas, California, Florida, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, in descending order) received about 34% of the July total shipments. Clinker production totaled 5.7Mt in July, slightly higher than the output in July 2010.
Production for the year through July was 34.2 Mt, slightly lower than that for the same period in 2010. The leading clinker-producing States in July were California, Texas, Missouri, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, in descending order, and these accounted for 46% of the total for the month.
