Cement production in Romania rose by 8.1% YoY to 3.18Mt in 1H2011. Cement sales increased by 2.4% to 2.95Mt over the same period, according to CIROM, the Romanian association of cement producers.

Cement and clinker exports totaled about 111,000t, against zero exports the previous year.

The Romanian cement market is dominated by HeidelbergCement’s Carpatcement, Holcim Romania and Lafarge Ciment, which operate a total of 16.9Mta cement capacity in nine cement works.
