21 September 2011

Twelve employees of French cement company Lafarge went on hunger strike to oppose the closure of the company’s plant in Frangey, southeastern France.

The closure is scheduled for April 2013. Lafarge took the decision for the shutdown in May 2011.

Trade union CGT fears that Lafarge wants to close another five cement units in the future.
