Egypt to offer 12 licences in October
08 September 2011

Egypt’s Industrial Development Authority (IDA) will offer 12 licenses for cement production by the end of next month, Al Mal reported, citing Ismail el-Nagdy, the authority’s chairman.

The licenses will allow their each of their holders to produce 1.5Mta and will only be awarded to companies not already operating in Egypt to increase competition in the local market, the newspaper cited el-Nagdy as saying.

Earlier this week it was reported that the IDA had offered Al Alamia Misr a license to produce cement with a capacity of 1.5Mt at a total investment cost of EGP1.5bn in Marsa Matrouh Governorate.
