26 August 2011

The State Cabinet of Karnataka, India has cleared land concessions to eight cement factories, all to be located in and around Sedam and Chincholi in Gulbarga district.

The total extent of lands approved for these projects is over 4,000 acres. Most of them have received waivers from the provisions of the Karnataka Land Revenue Act and the Karnataka Land Reforms Act which imposed a ban on the use of agricultural land for non-agricultural purposes.

Among the cement units are Chettinad Cements, Shree Cements (Rajasthan), Dalmia Cement and India Cements. All these projects were cleared during the Global Investors Meet last year and their land requirements were cleared by the State High Level Clearance Committee.
