Birla Corporation Ltd., the flagship company of the MP Birla Group, said it was poised to increase its cement production capacity to 9.3Mt, after the completion of its expansion programmes, including the 1.2Mt proposed capacity increase at Chanderia in Rajasthan and the 0.60Mt  proposed increase in Durgapur in West Bengal.

At the 91st AGM of the company held in Kolkata Monday, the company said it had applied to the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests at New Delhi for further increase in the capacity at Chanderia by 1.5Mt. This will take BCL’s total cement capacity to 10.8Mt and the capacity at Chanderia to more than 5Mt.

The company said all the debottlenecking projects undertaken at the clinker manufacturing units of the company at Satna in Madhya Pradesh and Chanderia were completed. Operations at the units concerned have been stabilised and its full benefit would be see in the current fiscal year. The cement capacity of the company currently stands at 7.5Mt.
