Iran to add 9.5Mt of capacity by year-end

Some 9.5Mt will be added to Iran’s cement production capacity by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2012).

Iran’s current annual cement output capacity stands at 72Mt, IRNA reported. 

The United States Geological Surveys (USGS) in its new annual report titled “Mineral Commodity Summaries 2011” stated that in 2010 Iran’s cement production rose 5Mt (9%) and reached to 55Mt.

Iran’s cement production in 2009 was 50Mt.

 There are 57 active cement production units in Iran as at 2010.
