INC seeks approval to increase cement prices, Paraguay
17 June 2011

Paraguay’s National Cement Industry (INC) has put forward a plan to officially increase cement prices from PGY35,000 to 42,500 per bag (US$8.7 to US$10.7), before the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC).

According to president of INC, Edgar Acosta, who recently met with Minister Francisco Rivas, while the state cement company is independent and autonomous as a public company, he and his team prefer to work with the support of the MIC.

Among other subjects discussed, Mr Acosta said the company is continuing with its plans to change the fuel used in its kiln. With the implementation of this project, clinker production will increase by 700t, translating to about 15,000 bags per day.
