Lafarge WAPCO launches health, safety month, Nigeria

With emphasis on transport safety, Lafarge Cement WAPCO Nigeria Plc, has launched its annual Health and Safety Month in all its three locations including Lagos, Sagamu and Ewekoro.

The theme of this year’s safety month, "Transport Safety", covered activities including the movement of vehicles, equipment and pedestrians on or off the plant. These activities according to the management were designed to create awareness amongst the company’s stakeholders on the necessary precautions required in order to operate transport in a safely.

The Health and Safety Month which is observed in all the 78 countries of the company operates, focuses on three key areas, amongst which were mobile equipment, people transport and logistic safety. Additional focus would also be on occupational and public health.

A release issued by the company weekend shows that in Nigeria, activities for the month would include training of stakeholders on safety standard and procedures, defensive driving and journey management techniques.

"There will also be road shows on safety driving campaigns at some motor parks in the three locations of the company. This will be done in conjunction with Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC)," the statement said..
