South Africa’s May sales decline

Recent data from the Cement and Concrete Institute of South Africa shows that sales for May 2011 totalled 912,585t compared to 939,318t in 2010, representing a fall of -2.8%.

Average daily sales were 45,629t in May, against 44,729t in 2010 (+2 per cent). May 2011 had one less selling day than May last year.

Year to-date sales stand at 4.2Mt, down 2.1 per cent YoY. The moving annual total (12 months to May 2011) was 10.8Mt against 11.3Mt, representing a YoY YoY contraction of 4.8 per cent.
