India’sAmbuja Cements has asked for an extension from the state government to execute its proposed greenfield cement plant at Nadikudi in Guntur district, reports Business Standard.

Ajay Kapur, the business head of South and West of Ambuja Cements wrote a letter to the chief secretary late last month seeking time to execute the project until December 2013. He stated that the company now wants to increase the project size to 5.75Mt.

Ambuja Cements received all the necessary approvals, including limestone mining leases, in 2008 for the project. The project was originally proposed with a 2Mt capacity along with a grinding unit at Kakinada.
