Buzzi-Unicem USA has placed an order on FCT-ACTech Pty Ltd for the design and supply of another COSMA analyser system for the Festus plant in Missouri. COSMA is a Continuous On-Line Real Time Analyser measuring mineralogy directly using XRD and Rietveld techniques.


This fourth COSMA for the Buzzi-Unicem Group will analyse clinker continuously and in real time from the new 650tpd kiln line as it leaves the cooler, thus providing timely information for better control of the kiln burning process and providing real time information on the quality of clinker being produced.

Minute by minute analysis provides trended graphs for complete clinker composition covering C3S (monoclinic and tri-clinic), C2S (β and γ), C3A (orthorhombic and cubic), C4AF, CaO, MgO, alkali sulfates and any other minerals present.
