Gedem Cement Factory has carried out successful production trials, and will soon be supplying the market, according to project coordinator, Habtemariam Fissehaye.

The new 1000tpd factory has been set up in Massawa and is being considered by the Eritrean government as a national strategic project which is expected to play a significant role in promoting the country’s economic development. This 0.33Mta capacity plant should, theoretically, take away the need for Eritrea to import, apart from special cements.

Mr Fissehaye pointed out that the factory easy access to power supply, in addition to land and sea transport services. The factory has already finalised the overall construction process and is making preparations to supply its products, Mr
Fissehaye added.
