Holcim Maroc recorded a four per cent drop in 2010 cement sales volumes recording 3.57Mt against 3.7Mt the year before.

This decline in sales of the company, whose production capacity is estimated at 4.5Mt, comes in the context of a domestic cement market that only grew by 0.4 per cent in 2010 compared to 3.4 per cent growth in 2009, CEO of Holcim Maroc, Dominique Drouet, said.

The company also noted a fall in aggregates to 1.15Mt against 1.16Mt in 2009 (down one per cent). Ready-mix sales fell five per cent YoY to 492,000t in 2010.

When presenting its results the group said it had invested EUR132m in expanding its Fez plant to double capacity. Commissioning is scheduled for the first half of 2012.
