11 April 2011

During a visit by Prime Minister Iveta Radicova to Holcim Slovensko’s Rohoznik works in Slovakia, a company spokesman presented plans to invest EUR11m this year. One-third of the amount will be put towards improving reliability of cement production while some EUR7m will be for improving production efficiency.

During the PM’s visit, the company introduced proposals on how to save 40-60 per cent of highway construction costs through the use of cement-concrete pavements, and how to stimulate the development of recycling and waste to produce energy for the production of cement.

The company is also in negotiations with the management of the Holcim group for further investments for improvements on environmental protection measures, which should reach up to EUR40m.

Holcim Slovenska ships approximately exports approximately 50 per cent of its production.
