Mozambique is expected to reach production of approximately 4Mt of cement by 2013 when two more factories are due to start operating, the country’s Minister for Industry and Trade, Armando Inroga said in an interview with Mozambican weekly newspaper, Domingo.

The Cimentos de Moçambique plant, located in Matola is now installing new equipment to increase production to 1Mta. Several companies are investing in the cement sector in Mozambique, including Chinese, Portuguese and South African investors. As a result of the new factories, the minister said he expected cement prices to fall as of 2013.
