All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) said on Monday that the cement dispatches during July-March 2010/11 stood at 16.02Mt, a decline of 7.86 per cent compared with 17.38Mt during the corresponding period of last year.


Cement units located in the north posted a 12.06 per cent decline in dispatches, while those in the south posted a gain of 17.41 during the period under review, the APCMA said in a statement.



The overall decline in exports was 14.46 per cent at 6.72Mt, against exports of 7.86Mt during the corresponding period of last year, the statement said.

 However, exports to Afghanistan increased by over 16 per cent from 2.82Mt to 3.28Mt while exports to India declined by 22.39 per cent during the first three quarters of this fiscal to 0.382Mt. Cement exports delivered by sea to other destinations declined by 32.69 per cent to 2.905Mt, it said.



In March, total cement dispatches were 2.22Mt, a decline of 3.76 per cent against dispatches of 2.31Mt in March 2010. Cement exports in March 2011 declined 11.83 per cent to 0.82Mt when compared with the corresponding month of last year.
