Belarus to increase production

Belarus to increase production
31 March 2011

According to Vice Prime Minister Anatoly Kalinin, the development of Belarus’ construction industry is hampered by a shortfall of 2Mta of cement. However, the modernsation of three Belarusian cement plans are currently in progress adding a further 1.8Mta of capacity. New facilities will be put into operation at Belarusian Cement Plant and Krichev Cement and Slate Plant in 2011, at Krasnoselsk Construction Materials Company in 2012.

To date Belarusian companies produce 4.5Mta of cement. New facilities will allow ramping up production by 5.5Mta in 2012. “Thus we will satisfy the demand on the local market and boost export. New technologies applied in the construction of cement production lines will help reduce the use of fuel and energy resources. Thus local products will become more competitive,” Mr Kalinin stressed.
