Shipments of cement in the Peruvian market totaled 270,562t between January and February 2011, 5.84 per cent more than that recorded in the same period in 2010, when they totalled 200,429t, reported the Association Cement Producers (ASOCEM).


During that period, cement production was 313,013t, representing an increase of 7.97 per cent over the same period of 2010, when it was 216,094t.


In the first two months of 2011, exports reached 10,105t of cement, up significantly over the same period in 2010 when they were just 600t.


Total cement shipments (domestic and exports) between January and February were 280,667t, a rise of 6.63 per cent over the same period in 2010 (201,029t).
