Burundians have been importing all their cement from their East African Community (EAC) neighbours (Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania). The production of cement in this tiny land-locked east African country will provide a cheaper source of cement .
According to Managing director, Aime Mananda, a 50kg bag of cement made in Burundi will be sold at about 19,000 Burundian francs (US$19), a difference of just over US$1, compared with imported cement.
