Cement sales had declined 5.2% lower YoY in December 2010.
The moving annual total in SA was down 6.7% YoY in January 2011 to 10.839Mt from 11.613 Mt in January 2010.
The Cement and Concrete Institute pointed out that January 2011 had an extra day of sales than the previous year. “If the increase in sales days is taken into account, sales were 9.1% lower,” it said.
