South Africa cement sales down 4.6%
Cement sales in South Africa fell 4.6 per cent YoY in January to 641,860t from 672,676t at the same time in 2010, data from the Cement and Concrete Institute showed on Thursday.
Cement sales had declined 5.2% lower YoY in December 2010.
The moving annual total in SA was down 6.7% YoY in January 2011 to 10.839Mt from 11.613 Mt in January 2010.
The Cement and Concrete Institute pointed out that January 2011 had an extra day of sales than the previous year. “If the increase in sales days is taken into account, sales were 9.1% lower,” it said.
