Vietnam producer delivers its first African shipment

Thang Long Cement JSC, a joint venture between the state-run Vietnam Machinery Installation Group (Lilama) and Hanoi General Export Import Corporation (Geleximco), has exported its first batch of cement with a 25,000t delivery to East Africa. The amount was under an export contract worth 50,000t, the Ha Noi Moi newspaper reported this week.

General Director of the Company, Le Do, revealed that the company has recognised Africa as a potential market with a high demand for construction materials. Therefore, it has decided to seek exports of its product to this market.

Under the company’s forward plan, it hopes to export some 500,000tpa of cement to Brunei, Singapore and Africa although how it intends to organise the logistics and actual exports out of Vietnam has not been clarified.
