Peru production seen rising 16.1%
07 February 2011

Peruvian cement production is expected to have risen 16.1 per cent to 8.4Mt and in 2011 is forecast to rise 11.6 per cent to 9.4Mt.

Domestic consumption is seen ahead by some 17.4 per cent last year and is forecast to rise 12.3 per cent this year.

Imports, excluding clinker, rose 125.2 per cent in 2010 to 322,200t.

2011 growth will be driven by the buoyant construction sector thanks to the execution of major construction and housing projects, road infrastructure, mining, commercial centres, sanitation, hotel projects, expansion and installation of new cement plants, among others.
