La Unión to sell cement to Congo, plans entry into Brazil

Spanish-based producer, Cementos La Unión, which has plants in Egypt, Chile and the Dominican Republic has bought a silo in the Congo, Africa, to introduce there some of their its generated in Spain and plans a grinding unit in the country.

With a fall in consumption by nearly half in the Spanish market in recent years, external markets have become a priority for the group Cementos La Unión. The company is now seeking of ways to dispose of its surplus volumes from its Ribarroja  plant (Valencia).

The other market in which the company is looking to entering is Brazil. "We have already applied for licenses for several mills, we have already gained one and we are waiting for other transactions. Investment is not yet decided and approved by the board,” stated Ricardo Vela, director of the group.
