Holcim is still awaiting a final investment proposal from New Zealand at the Holcim head office in Switzerland to take a final decision on whether a new cement plant will be built near Weston.

Holcim capital projects manager Ken Cowie said the decision-making process was "going well - we’re still on track".

"We’re anticipating it will be within the first half of this year." he added.

Holcim New Zealand has resource consents to build the plant at its Waiareka Valley site plus associated quarries and pits in the Ngapara and Enfield areas.
