Argentina’s mining ministry’s office reported yesterday that the lime and cement production hit a record high in 2010, with 2.6Mt and 10.5Mt respectively.
Cement production output surpassed the previous 2008 records of 9.7Mt and in 1980 of 9.3Mt. Cement consumption, in turn, saw a rise of 20 per cent last year.
The rise in production is attributed to the various investments that have been promoted in the country over recent years.
