New Dangote plant for Zambia?

Completion of a recent positive feasibility study for a new  US$400m integrated cement plant with a capacity of 1.5Mta would seem to indicate that Nigerian cement producer Dangote  is still keen to push ahead with this project – first mooted some two years earlier.

Local Masaiti district commissioner Evans Pwele confirmed the development in a local press interview on December 23, saying that works at the site are expected to start early next year.
Mr Pwele said the company has written a letter requesting for permission from Bwana Mkubwa Mining Limited of Ndola to allow it use the mining firm’s road to transport heavy equipment to the site in Senior Chief Chiwala‘s area.

In early December, during the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding, Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry Felix Mutati said Dangote’s investment will benefit Zambians, especially through improved employment levels.
