President of Votorantim Cimentos, Walter Schalka has laid the foundation stone for the construction of a cement unit in São Luís, the capital of the Brazilian state of Maranhão.

Also in attendance at the ceremony was João Castelo, mayor of São Luís.

The project is part of the Votorantim group’s plan of increasing capacity to meet growing domestic demand and better serve regional Brazilian markets.
