Spanish demand seen down 15% YoY

The Spanish cement sector is set to close 2010 with a total of 24.5Mt consumed, representing a fall of 15 per cent over the previous year.


President of Oficemen, the Spanish Cement Manufacturers Association, warned that consumption is expected to fall a further 10 per cent next year.

Until November, cement consumption in Spain was 23Mt, representing a decrease of 15.5% over the same period in 2009. Cement production up until November had fallen by 12.1% over the same period in 2009 and reached 24.4Mt of cement.
